Description
As per the opinion of Guru Charaka of Ayurveda, there is no disease in the universe which cannot be cured by Shilajit. This signifies the importance that Shilajit holds in Ayurveda.
Shilajit is a gift of nature to Ayurveda and is known to be commonly prescribed for sexual dysfunction and male infertility. But, Shilajit has many other benefits in treatment of diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, improving bones, joints and muscle strength and may improve cognitive functions.
Shilajit is Fulvic acid and asphaltum and is a mixture of organic acids, herbal and metallic compounds. It is considered a rasayana which breaks down toxins in the body acts as an anti-aging and anti-oxidant. It slows down oxidative stress and increases cell turnover and potentially encourages the body to produce more collagen.
Rasa (Taste)- Kashaya (Astringent), Katu (pungent), Lavana (salty), Tikta (Bitter)
Guna (qualities)- Rasayana (anti-aging), Ruksha (Dryness), Guru (Heavy)
Veerya (potency)- Ushna (hot)

Dosage :
125 mg to 250 mg with warm water after food, once or twice a day.

Contraindications :
People with hormone dependent conditions should consult with Ayurveda physician before taking shilajit.
While on treatment with shilajit, it is advised to avoid raw meat, radishes and milk, citrus fruits, excessively spicy foods.
