Amaltas Tablets (Cassia Fistula)

Amaltas is a potent skin protector and anti pruritic, along with being a mild purgative. It is soft, heavy, unctuous in qualities; ensuring downward passage of toxins. The taste and Vipaka are sweet and Veerya is cold. It is anti Kapha Pitta due to its laxative Prabhava.

This is the best mild purgative due to a pleasing taste, non habit forming and safer for a prolonged use as by Chronic Constipation patients. It is useful in all skin diseases, Constipation, fevers, Heart diseases, bleeding disorders, flatulence, and colic. It also removes Ama and detoxifies the digestive tract.

The fruit, stem bark, and leaves of this plant contain a variety of biologically active compounds such as anthraquinones, flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides, tannin, saponin, terpenoids, reducing sugar and steroids that have various medicinal properties. The fruit and stem bark extract shows various activities like antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antidiabetic, hypolipidemic, hepato-protective, antimicrobial, antitumor, antiulcer etc.

The aqueous extract of fruit pulp of Cassia fistula results in significant reduction in serum levels of Liver Enzymes and Total Bilirubin and increase in Total Proteins.
